Finally Using the Covers

Despite absolutely loving to be swaddled as tight as can be when he was a baby, Carter has never liked being covered with blankets. This has always puzzled Ben and me as we both love to have lots of covers all the way up to our ears.

Finally this weekend Carter has completely reversed his belief in covers. He now LOVES them. Of course, now that the weather is improving and the temperature is rising and I finally don't have to worry about him being warm enough at night, he decides covers are a good thing.

Please note that his "baby bear" next to him is all tucked in, too. He did this on his own. This is how we found him this morning.

Mister Smarty-Pants

On the drive home from school today...

Carter - Mommy, you are difficult.
Me - What? Why am I difficult?
Carter - Because you are a woman.

What the heck are they teaching him at his montessori school? Geez!

In Memory of Corky

Corky died today at home in the backyard sun. He would have been 12 next month. Though we knew that he was very sick and that his days with us were numbered, it's still very hard to accept. The house already feels so empty.

This picture was taken yesterday right after I brushed him. He is now buried under this tree. Corky was the friendliest cat that I had ever met. He will be greatly missed.

PS - After the "burial" we asked Carter if he wanted to go to the garden store with us to pick out some flowers to plant on Corky's spot. He said "Yes, but nothing too long or prickly because we don't want to poke Corky." How sweet.

I then asked Carter what was his favorite thing about Corky. His response, "When he would run around in the yard. What was your favorite thing about Corky, Mama?"

I'm not sure if Carter really understands what has happened but he sure is sweet about the whole thing.
